an internationally published wedding photography team based in the Texas Hill Country. We began photographing weddings in 2013, and more than 100 madly in love couples later, we love it more than ever. Our business is built on relationships, on truly getting to know you; our brides and grooms, and photographing you in a way that shows who you are, not just what you look like. We call this Creative Non-Fiction wedding photography because we believe that real life is beautiful, even though it isn't always perfect. We believe in relationships, in honesty, in embracing the beauty of greatness and hardship. We believe in real life, in unconditional love, endless laughter, apologies, and forgiveness. We believe in choosing to love every day and celebrating the small victories. We believe in dance parties in the kitchen and holding hands while you reveal all your inner weirdness. We believe in spontaneous adventures and lazy days on the couch. We believe in vulnerability and in authenticity because open and honest places change the world.
Becki was born in California, grew up in the midwest, graduated high-school & college in Texas, and travels every chance she gets; but home is really where the pups are. That is her & Ryan's two rescue dogs @watsontheleonberger and Miley Saurus (she's part dinosaur). She drinks her coffee so slowly she often gets hot & iced coffee out of the same cup. Other than coffee, Becki believes in the three main 'C' food groups: cheese, Chick-fil-a, and chocolate ice-cream, but of course she's also gets excited about a good avocado and trying out new restaurants. Becki loves to read; which is where the style of photography the Smith House is built on originated.
Ryan is a fourth-generation Houstonian, but a first generation Texas A&M Aggie (much to his Longhorn father's chagrin!). Between watching Houston Rockets basketball and snuggling his pups watching what he likes to call "good bad movies", Ryan wrote and published a murder mystery book, Hutch City, with a sequel in the near future! Ryan has always been a creative, but he had no idea that wedding photography was ever in the cards. That is until he married Becki in 2013 and became a human pocket and light stand when she was photographing weddings alone. He slowly picked up a camera, and earned a promotion to assistant, then second shooter; but he will always hold the title of human pocket (because once a celebrity client begins calling you "the pocket" as your nickname, you just can't give it up).
Danielle is a Colorado-Native who has settled on forever in Texas with her main squeeze, Colt. But just because you can take the girl out of Colorado, doesn't mean you can take Colorado out of the girl. Danielle still wears thick socks and a winter coat often (because even in Texas she is always cold) and she still looks for outdoor adventure everywhere she goes with her two Viszla pups Ruckus and Ransom. But when she comes home from exploring, her favorite things to do are cook a total out-of-the-box recipe, turn on the Lifetime Movie Network, and snuggle up with her beau (and of course a heated blanket... even in July).
